Committee, Fall 1997 to present. The committee oversees recommendations
regarding teaching competence and curriculum changes.

Renovation Committee, Summer 1996 to present.

Facilities Committee, Spring 96.
- Renovation initiatives for the
School:
(1) planned the renovations for the relocation of the graduate
assistant offices in the Annenberg Building, Summer 1997;
(2) designed and fabricated inexpensive interim signage and directories
for the Annenberg Building, 95-96;
(3) planned the renovation of the graduate assistant offices
in the Annenberg Building, Summer 1995;
(4) assisted the departmental staff in organizing the relocation
of CAAS to the Annenberg Building and helped coordinate during
the move, Summer 1995.
CONFERENCE PLANNING AND ORGANIZATION
- Conference Planner for the Western
States Graduate Student Communication Conference (the Miniconference),
to be co-hosted by the Annenberg School and by the Department
of Library and Information Science of UCLA's Graduate School
of Education and Information Studies on March 20-21, 1998.
- Chief Conference Planner and
Organizer for the revival of the Western Miniconference, hosted
by the Annenberg School on April 11-12, 1997. Responsibilities
included estimating and overseeing the conference budget, setting
up and overseeing conference committees, supervising the submissions
and review process, screening submissions, and editing and publishing
the conference program.
INSTRUCTIONAL AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES INITIATIVES
- TA Training: developed a Teaching Assistant training
program in coordination with USC's Center for Excellence in Teaching
(CET) and School of Communication Faculty, Fall 98 & 99.
- Roundtable discussions: in consultation with faculty, developed
and organized new orientation roundtable discussions for the
incoming graduate student class in Fall 97 & 98.
- Internet and web training: in consultation with faculty, created
and taught two new computer training events for the incoming
graduate student classes in Fall 97 & 98:
- Graduate Student Handbook: wrote a Doctoral Student Handbook for
incoming and returning students in Fall 97; revised and extended
it in concert with Randall Lake, Director of the PhD program,
Fall 98.
- Electronic Card Catalog: in consultation with the Directors of
the Schools of Communication and Journalism, and the Dean's office,
conceived and conceptually designed (including budget estimates)
the creation of an Electronic Card Catalog for the Resource Center,
Annenberg's own library, and fabricated much of its basic hyperlink
architecture.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
Worked with the Los Angeles chapter of Habitat for Humanity to
refurbish their World Wide Web page and expand their Web presence
to attract construction professionals; this project was developed
at my initiative as part of my participation in the Presidential
Fellows Program (see Honors), 1996-97.
