The Big Wynn

I had this whole post written and then my computer lost it! How annoying. The bottom line is, remember how I got a Wynn players card last December? Well the Wynn encourages me to gamble by putting money on my card each week. I can't have the cash, I have to gamble the credit. I can keep the winnings. They've been putting money on my card each week. Initially it was $10 a week and I was using it for my weekend gambling trips. This month, they upped the offer to $25 but limited me to using it between Monday and Thursday. Brian gave me the great idea of going in on a weekday morning before work. That means I leave for work 1/2 hour early, stop at the Wynn, use the credit and then go to work. It works out because there is no traffic and the casino is practically empty. I can park, run in, pull the megabucks 8 times, cash my winnings and go to work. BAM!

I'm using my credit on the Megabucks each week. So far I've won $450. I have 2 more weeks of play. I'll let you know if I win the Megabucks.

I hate it when the computer loses a blog post. Inevitably, it is always the most insightful and humorous one, too.

Do you find that you're able only to spend your credit's worth? Because $450 sounds great until I learn that you spend much more to win that. Like I was listening to this one segment on the Religion & Ethics Newsweekly podcast about this $50 lottery card in Texas. They created it to have high stakes, hoping that people who are richer would play, but instead the story makes the case that poorer people are drawn to the higher stakes card. This one woman was so excited that one time she won something like $500 but then admitted that she has spent at least ten times that amount to get that. Very sad.

Well since I'm using Wynn's money and not putting in any of my own, the $450 is all profit. I can't use the $25 for anything else than playing the slots. But generally, yes, I think gambling doesn't pay off. When I'm playing with my own money I'm not expecting to win, I'm entertaining myself and if I come home with winnings, I'm happy. If I spend $20 or so, it's just paying for entertainment.

So do I understand that for your effort of driving in early once a week you have taken home $450 with no actual outlay of your own? Bravo!

PS Sounds like enough for a ticket to Cincinnati :-)

Well really a two week effort. The part I didn't repeat is that this week I won $15 but decided to just play it back in. Which I'm sure is what the Wynn is hoping for. But I've still got my $450.
