Searching, searching...

I was very excited to learn that for the next 6 months or so I will be the chair of all committees selecting professional employees in our organization. We have about 18 open positions so that will keep me pretty busy. I've served on and chaired lots of search committees during my 14+ years here and I enjoy it. This it the first time we've had so many openings at one time and I think the HR Director decided it was too difficult to deal with multiple chairs learning the search process so, since I have lots of experience, I get to be the point person. I like organizing searches, chairing the committees and interviewing candidates so I'm pretty happy with the decision. It is just what I needed to get some new enthusiasm about my job.

Is there anything open in the Meeting Room Security and Management division? Cuz I like organizing chairs and searching committees.

I don't know if I'd be excited about your job or not. I've hired a few people at my church back home, and when you have a lot of great candidates, it's fun. But when you have a whole lot of lousy candidates... yuck.

I don't like doing interviews. Maybe it's because I don't do it often and it's not my job.
But for sure hiring is better than firing.
