Yesterday Debra and I returned home after a lovely lunch and a movie afternoon to a deluge of disaster news. We turned on the TV to images of a plane circling LAX because they needed to burn of fuel before making an emergency landing. A PIP let us know that Rita is now a category 5 storm and people are fleeing Texas. Then someone interrupted those stories to announce that a tornado had been spotted in Minneapolis.
So we kept our eyes on all the news stories and looked up information on the internets. It seems local, state and federal governments are ready for Rita. The elderly and infirm are being evacuated, the shelters are stocked, the buses are ready and the national guard is prepared. The tornado decided to leave without doing much damage (or it never existed) and the plane made a safe landing. Whew! So we turned the channel back to local news only to discover a car had plowed through pedestrians on the sidewalk, killing one and injuring many.
So many catastrophes all at one time. Is someone trying to send a message? Debra says the God is punishing the US for letting Bush and his band of conservatives run the country. Maybe she's right. Or left.
Here's why God smote New Orleans.
I don't know what he's got on houston or Galveston.
Minnesota could be Prince, Dylan or Prairie Home Companion.
Jet Blue i don't know, but it was in LA. LA and Las Vegas, we know he hates.
What'd you think of the movie?
