Well Ophelia is blowing things around but the typical response has been who cares about that punk cat 1 wind storm, bring it on. Now that Katrina is gone, cat 1 doesn't look too scary to people. Does anyone know what happened to hurricanes L,M and N?
The history of naming hurricanes is interesting. The list for this year indicates we have 6 names left. I think Lisa might have discovered what happens if we have 7 more hurricanes this year but I don't remember what day she posted it and her blog has no search utility that I could find. What would you name the 7th hurricane? I don't think it should have to start with A. According to the document I linked to, "Q, U, X, Y, and Z are not included because of the scarcity of names beginning with those letters" but I think there are plenty of good Y and Z names. Yolanda, Yvette, or Yvonne. How about Zed, Zappa, or Zorro? Since they rarely get to the end of the list, those names wouldn't be used up soon.
I think she said that it goes into greek letters. So the next one would be hurricane alpha. It would be cool if they gave them greek names, too: hurricane aphrodite, the hurricane of love.
