When I donated money to the Katrina disaster, I visited a charity rating site to check out some statistics before sending my money. I finally settled on the Red Cross and Noah's Wish. I know some people don't understand giving money to save animals when people are in danger but I decided to give to both. I love my cats so much and I know I'd want someone to help them if I couldn't. I read a story about families who were so devastated by having to leave their beloved pets and I decided I could increase my donation and hope those people are reunited with their animal friends. Many people who were rescued had made a choice to ride out the hurricane and I would never deny them help. But the animals didn't really have a choice. And they won't get any federal aid. So if my money helps save a few animals, I'll be happy.

Stupid pets! Why do they let us get so attached to them?
Posted by: Jen Rodis at September 6, 2005 09:22 AMWe donated through my wife's place of employment, which is doing a 100% match on employee contributions to the Red Cross.
Amazing move by the company, especially considering how hard the company was hit itself by loss of accounts and transactions in that area.
I donated through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
