The Mining Collection contains textbooks and handbooks on mining and geology, directories, U.S. Geological Surveys, Nevada Bureau of Mines Publications, Environmental Impact Statements for regional mines, and soil surveys. The Map Collection includes USGS Quadrangel maps, some historical maps, Nevada Highway Dept. Planning Survey maps, county maps, and Flood Prone Area maps. The Vertical File contains clippings, maps and brochures which focus on local on state topics, including places, buildings, people, statistics, and special events such as the Basque Festival and the Cowboy Poetry Gathering. Elko County Library also has the complete run of the Elko Daily Free Press on microfilm.
