Textbook Adoptions
Important information about IS 101 Textbooks
For sections using EMC/Paradigm textbook, select ONE of the following two choices:
- IS 101 hardcopy bundle from EMC/Paradigm: ISBN: 9780763836900. This option should cost $75.00 in the campus bookstore. This bundle includes:
- A spiral-bound textbook
- Marquee 2007 Vista CD containing student files
- Computers: Understanding Technology CD
- SNAP Activation code which may not be reused or resold
- Microsoft Office 2007 180 day license
OR
- IS 101 e-book bundle from EMC/Paradigm: ISBN: 9780763836917. This option should cost $40.00 in the campus bookstore. This bundle includes:
- An activation code for an e-book, an internet-based, electronic version to the spiral-bound textbook. Once activated, you will be able access the e-book for four months. You will not be able to resell the e-book, like you can the hard-copy textbook. With the e-book you can
- highlight text (from your primary computer only)
- attach notes to pages (from your primary computer only)
- print specific pages (you may not print all of the pages in the CSN Computer Lab)
Do not activate the e-book until you are told to by your instructor.
Since the e-book may be installed on only one computer, you should install it on your home computer. You will also have access to the e-book from all classroom and lab computers at CSN. Do not use the e-book at CSN until you have activated it on your home computer.

HARDWARE CONSIDERATIONS
- You may use this material on any computer in the CSN Labs and Classrooms
- If you have a MAC, in order to use SNAP, you must be able to dual boot to a Windows environment (XP or VISTA)
- Whatever your computer type: You must use Internet Explorer version 6 or 7. If you are using Internet Explorer version 8, you must set it to run in “compatibility mode.”
