IS 115 - COURSE SYLLABUS:

COURSE Description:

This course is a beginner/first course in computer programming. Topics to be covered include the computer programming concepts and programming logic - problem-solving steps, algorithm development, program design, coding, testing, and documentation. Numerous simple programs will be written using Java programming language to exercise the material covered. The course is designed as a beginning course in computer programming; therefore, it assumes absolutely no prior knowledge or background in programming but a prerequisite in IS 101 is recommended.

COURSE OBJECTIVES/OUTCOME:

On completion of this course, students will understand computer programming concepts - how to design, write, compile, execute, and debug computer programs using Java programming language. Topics covered would include the following:

All students will be required to do the following: in-class course lab assignments, homework assignments, project assignments, and Two in-class examinations (midterm and finals).

GRADING:

Grades will be based on the following: midterm exam (30%), final exam (30%), Labs, and projects assignments (30%), and Exercise assignments (10%).
